So my husband is at work and I am texting him about this awesome idea and I am thankful for him being very supportive and also him trying to be vegan as much as he can along with me. First thing I grabbed a pen and a piece of paper to write some tips from my cousin. I have been suggested by her to watch few movies about being vegan and also how animals have been treated in a dairy business. It scares me a little bit to watch to be honest, but that is THE truth. So on my first day I decided to make a beetroot soup! As I am very Latvian when it comes to my food, beetroot soup is a meal I include in my life quiet often. I realized that I always eat my soup with a sour cream ( very much Latvian ), and what now?? Turns out this amazing Estonian Vegan has a lot of alternatives for eggs and creams - http://www.vegansandra.com/ It is worth of checking, it has interesting recipes and videos as well! On my first day I had so much information of which I had no clue before, like for example that most of the alcohol beverages is not vegan friendly! (there goes my pint of Guinness.. ) Also there is a special website where you can check if your favorite drink is vegan friendly or not. You can find it all out here - www.barnivore.com Thank God for Violife! Yes, vegan cheeses are out there and yes, you can get them even in some of the Tesco's! My first day went easy and with no struggle. Few panic attacks and some calls to my cousin while I was shopping in super market but I dealt with it and got some nuts and soy milk for now ha ha! Will see what second day will bring me! P.S Local market will be my best friend now! | http://www.vegansandra.com/ |
